Mumbai: Preparations for Reliance Industries to buy Disney India (Disney) businesses have been completed. This mega deal will be announced soon. Bloomberg revealed that Disney will sell a major stake in the Disney Star business to Reliance. The value of this deal is estimated to be 80,000 crores.
This huge deal will be announced next month itself and Disney will have a minority stake in the India business after the deal, the report said. It said that a final decision has not yet been reached regarding the valuation of the company on this deal. Disney and Reliance have not yet responded to this news.
Reliance’s streaming platform Jio Cinemas has given free access to the IPL cricket tournament, putting pressure on Disney India’s streaming operations. While the IPL digital rights were previously in the hands of Disney, Mukesh Ambani’s acquisition of these rights and free streaming on Jiocinema has increased the popularity of Reliance’s streaming platform Jiocinema.
