The police in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, have arrested a young man who was breaking the ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) near Garibsthan. The incident occurred at around 2.23 pm on Saturday, when the Mumbai-based ATM monitoring team alerted the police. Karthik Kumar, identified as the youth involved in the incident, was chased down and caught, but not able to withdraw the money. An FIR has been lodged against him and he was sent to jail in judicial custody.

Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. The police have arrested a young man who was breaking the ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) located near Garibsthan of Nagar police station in Muzaffarpur, Bihar at around 2.23 pm on Saturday night. He has been identified as Karthik Kumar of Golaroad.
On the information of SBI’s ATM monitoring team based in Mumbai, Nagar police station reached there on Saturday night. As soon as he saw the police team, Karthik started running away from the ATM room. He was chased and caught. He partially damaged the ATM.
However, he was not successful in withdrawing the money. An FIR has been lodged against him by Subodh Kumar Singh, police sub-inspector of the city police station. He was produced in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate. The court sent him to jail in judicial custody.
In the FIR, the police sub-inspector has said that at around 2.23 in the night, SBI’s Mumbai-based ATM monitoring team informed that a youth had entered the ATM room located near Garibsthan. He is breaking the ATM to withdraw money.
The surveillance team also sent its video and photo on police WhatsApp. To verify this information, they reached there along with the police force and caught Karthik. After matching the video and photo sent by the surveillance team, Karthik’s involvement in breaking the ATM was confirmed. After this he was arrested.
